To avoid flickering freeze the Anki UI for 0.5 seconds when the screen changes. e.g.

  • Before: Question page -> UI flickers while page loads -> Answer Page
  • After: Question page -> UI update pauses for 0.5 seconds (Freeze) -> Answer Page

In short it freezes instead of flickering. If no flickering occurs or if flickering does occur but does not bother you this add-on is not necessary.

How to use

  • The add-on will be auto enabled after installation.
  • UI freezing occurs during these screens:
    • Anki Home (DeckBrowser)
    • Overview
    • Reviewer (Question and Answer

Config

You can change the duration in the add-on’s Config.

  • msec_frozen
    • The number of milliseconds that freezes Anki’s UI. (e.g. 0.5 second -> 500 milliseconds)
    • No need to restart Anki.
  • is_enable_reviewer Enable or disable in the reviewer (question, answer) value: true or false.

Notes

This add-on contains a feature that can freeze Anki’s UI, so if unexpected issues occur there is a risk that Anki will freeze completely and become unresponsive. (Several features to prevent this are already included in this add-on but the risk of unexpected errors or interference from other add-ons is not 0%.)

If this happens please launch Anki in safe mode and disable the add-on.

  • How to Launch Anki in Safe Mode
    1. Close Anki. (or restart the PC, or use Task manager)
    2. Launch Anki while holding down the Shift key.
    3. Anki will launch with all add-ons disabled.
      • (If it doesn’t you may have released the Shift key too soon so please try again.)
    4. Disable or remove the add-on.
    5. Restart Anki.

📥 How do I install this add-on?

  1. This add-on works with Anki for desktop (it does not work on mobile). Download Anki from the official website if you haven’t already.
  2. Copy and paste the add-on code ( 155773558 ) into Anki and you can install it. ( Menu -> Tools -> Add-ons -> Get Add-ons -> Code [ add-on code ] )
  3. When I develop bug fixes, create new features, or compatibility for New Anki, I will notify you and you can install it.
  4. Add-ons will be broken when the official Anki gets a major update, so if you like this add-on please support my volunteer development by rating, sharing, and donating. Thank you!
