📺️Advanced MPV Player

This add-on is a fixed version for Anki26+ of the addon “Advanced MPV Player”, originally created by them (author unknown) and credit goes to them. The original add-on is no longer maintained and is broken in the latest version of Anki, instead you can use this my fixed version.

How to use

(these descriptions are re-uploaded and partially edited from the original add-on page.)

This add-on optimizes the mpv player’s featuresthes when use sounds field:

  • When play video clip, this add-on will paused at the end,keep the last frame on the screen and not close the window, if the anki play next card’s video clip, the mpv window will continue play the clip, this make people feel comfortable.

  • When play vidoe or audio media, you can use sounds like this: [sound:xxxx.flv –start=60 –length=10], this make the mpv play the media from start time and keep playing length time, The following is references, with these options, we can skip media’s titile or useless part, or cut a long clip to small parts and watchint its in several days.

MPV Manual: Options

  • --start=<relative time>

    • Examples: –start=+56, –start=00:56 Seeks to the start time + 56 seconds. –start=-56, –start=-00:56 Seeks to the end time - 56 seconds. –start=01:10:00 Seeks to 1 hour 10 min. –start=50% Seeks to the middle of the file. –start=30 –end=40 Seeks to 30 seconds, plays 10 seconds, and exits. –start=-3:20 –length=10 Seeks to 3 minutes and 20 seconds before the end of the file, plays 10 seconds, and exits. –start=‘#2’ –end=‘#4’ Plays chapters 2 and 3, and exits.

  • --end=<relative time>

    • Stop at given time. Use –length if the time should be relative to –start. See –start for valid option values and examples.

  • --length=<relative time>

  • Support Opitons like: –start=01:10:00,100 –end=01:11:00,000 –sub-add=xxxx.srt make the mpv play video for segment and subtitle.

Options

  • Force Window:
    • Keeps the MPV player visible always. The MPV player plays both video and audio, if you play audio after playing a video, the MPV player will be hidden. This option keeps a black screen displayed without closing mpv.
  • Keep Aspect:
    • Keep the video’s aspect ratio when resizing the window.
  • Show Subtitle:
    • Display subtitles if they are available.
  • Hide Title Bar:
    • Hides the title bar at the top of the MPV player.

Custom size and position

Options to customize the position and size of the MPV player when Anki launches. These options take effect after Anki is restarted. (They are not applied immediately.)

  • Customize the position and size of the MPV when launch Anki:

    • Turn this feature ON/OFF

  • Adjust MPV window size and position button:

    • Show a placeholder window for the MPV to customize its size and position. The position and size of this placeholder window will determine where the MPV player launches.

  • Reset the window’s size and position button:

    • Reset the position and size to the default.

📥 How do I install this add-on?

  1. This add-on works with Anki for desktop (it does not work on mobile). Download Anki from the official website if you haven’t already.
  2. Copy and paste the add-on code ( 466948669 ) into Anki and you can install it. ( Menu -> Tools -> Add-ons -> Get Add-ons -> Code [ add-on code ] )
  3. When I develop bug fixes, create new features, or compatibility for New Anki, I will notify you and you can install it.
